Shameless Plug – Mason in top ten places to live after graduation

This is a good example of how marketing hype slips into the admissions process.  There’s an article in Forbes Magazine that ranks the top ten cities for college graduates. D.C. was number nine, which doesn’t usually include the economy of the northern Virginia suburbs, otherwise I’m sure it would be top five, but that’s beside the point. The point is, this area is a great place to be, and through only minor linguistic slight of hand I can turn that into a plug in the next viewbook: “Forbes Magazine recently ranked our area in the top ten places in the entire country for college graduates.” Of course, Forbes didn’t actually specifically say anything about the area around Mason, but we are in the D.C. area… Anyhow, I won’t be using that line, but don’t be surprised if your thumbing through some other school’s marketing materials and see something like that. Be seeing you.
